Due to Escambia County declaring an emergency because of winter weather concerns, the Natural Resource Damage Assessment public meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 28th in Pensacola has been canceled. The Deepwater Horizon Trustees will still host the public meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 29th in Panama City, to solicit public comment on the draft plan for the third phase of early restoration for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Public Meeting in Pensacola Canceled Due to Weather
The meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 29, will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Panama City. The meeting will begin with an open house at 6 p.m. CST and the public meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Pensacola meeting will be rescheduled for a later date.
The draft plan describes the third and largest round of early restoration projects yet, along with the Trustees’ proposed programmatic approach to early restoration planning for Phase III and future early restoration plans.
The public comment period on the Draft Phase III ERP/PEIS has been extended from Feb. 4 through Feb. 19. Visit www.gulfspillrestoration.noaa.gov to download an electronic copy of the plan and to submit comments online.
