The Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council has scheduled a series of public hearings around the Gulf of Mexico beginning Tuesday, August 5 through Thursday, August 15, 2013. The purpose of the meetings is to solicit public comment on  Amendments 19 & 20 to the Coastal Migratory Pelagics Fishery Management Plan. All meetings will begin at 6:00 pm. and will conclude no later than 9 p.m.

Amendment 19 to the CMP Fishery Management Plan addresses sale and permit provisions for Gulf of Mexico Spanish and king mackerel. Amendment 20 addresses season length, transit provisions, allocation, and framework procedures for coastal migratory pelagics.

The Council is expected to take final action on these amendments during its October 2013 meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.
